Abstract: 

Howard University School of Divinity implemented a three-part Transformational Leadership Development Program to enhance its capacity for preparing candidates for congregational ministry. The Transformational Leadership Development program included the following component: (1) a graduate assistance and pastoral mentoring program to enable students to connect with outstanding pastors from across the nation; (2) an annual debate program to systematically cultivate a shard vision about social justice and public policy issues and to persuasively articulate that vision from? theological perspective; and (3) implementation of a development office.
