Kelsey and Wheeler review ten years of basic issues research in theological education and relate the learnings from that research to criteria for excellence in theological school faculties. They argue that contemporary challenges to the basic purposes, operating assumptions and structure of theological education which the research has clarified require criteria for excellence which differ considerably from earlier ideas.
