Abstract:

Richard Hughes' chapter describes three models of faith traditions sustaining the task of higher education in times of moral crisis. These include a Reformed model based on the example of Calvin College, an Anabaptist/Mennonite model drawn from the experience of Fresno Pacific College and a Lutheran model based on California Lutheran University. Hughes shows how each of these institutions used the resources of their respective theological worldviews to maintain their faith traditions in the face of progressive change after 1960. (LT)
