Ministry, Sacred Space, and Theological Education: The Legacy of Victor Turner

Abstract:

Moore argues that theological education does not view ministry as uniquely religious (and thus engaged in ritual) leadership, and fails to educate ministers about the nature and significance of sacred space. He advocates Victor Turner's understanding of transitional, transformative space as a response to these deficiencies and also as a way to develop creative relations between modern counseling ministries and congregations (understood as systems in themselves).
