Living on Two Levels: The Work of the Academic Dean in North American Theological Education

Lynn, Robert Wood. "Living on Two Levels: The Work of the Academic Dean in North American Theological Education," Theological Education 24, no.1 (Autumn 1987): 75-85.
Abstract:

Lynn sketches the rise of bureaucracy in Protestant theological education and particularly the relatively recent creation of the office of dean. He suggests that while deans must be good managers their more important mission is to render leadership informed with long- range vision which guides theological educational institutions toward a different (i.e., more faithful) future.
