I Rose and Found My Voice: Black Church Studies and Theological Education

Abstract:

Evans addresses the question, "What are black church studies?" in predominantly white institutions. He looks at four institutional types--moderately evangelical and denominational, nondenominational university related, denominational seminary with a black church program, and an institution with a strong black faculty but no emphasis on the black church. He suggests a paradigm based on the African diaspora as a context for theological education. (RG)
