Abstract:

This handbook provides information on the Core Community, a key component of the RENEW 2000 process. RENEW 2000 responds to the challenge of Pope John Paul II for a “new evangelization” in the 21st century in which small Christian communities become central to the proclamation of the gospel. As the book describes it, the Core Community is “a group of 10-12 people who come together to form community themselves and to carry out the leadership ministry for RENEW 2000 with a focus on fostering the ongoing development of small communities in the parish.” This handbook contains material on the formation of the Core Community, six parish-based Core Community formation sessions, two additional formation sessions, and information on prayer and faith sharing experiences.
