“Hozho”: Finding Harmony to Walk in Beauty’s Way

Abstract:
Although she set out to explore the arts in relationship to spirituality, what Alison Halsey discovered during her sabbatical experience was the need to pursue “hozho,” a Navajo word best approximated in English by combining the meaning of order, beauty, balance and harmony. Her discovery brought her to understand how the creative arts might be helpful in restoring sanity and soul to the pastor and congregation and be instrumental in connection both to the “Ground of All Being.”
